Our Very Active Quartets.....
The High Country Harmonizers have several quartets, some being temporary when aTemporary quartet is needed to meet special circumstances and some are more permanent, such as the Foothills Connection and the Grits. These may change members from time to time due to attrition, but the quartet names almost always remain the same.
Even though our chorus sings only the same four vocal parts as a quartet, quartets are the basis of four-part barbershop harmony and tend to be more easily associated with this style of music.
A quartet or the entire chorus can be requested to perform for a nominal fee by contacting a member.
Lead - Wayne Roshaven
Bass - Hal Levine
Tenor - Bill Kolb
Baritone - Carl Hubbell
Quartets tend to perform more often throughout the year than the chorus since it's easier for four people to commit to an appearance plus the venue may not be suitable for more than four singers. That's why they normally take part in things like our Singing Valentine program, singing for Mother's Day, Birthdays, Anniversaries and other personal and special occasions. As you can see by the enclosed photos, quartets sometimes also add a little comedy.
Here are a couple of our quartets:
G.R.I.T.S. (Gents Retired In The South)
Lead - Hal Callaway
Bass - Lloyd Dunham
Tenor - Donn Smith
Baritone - Jerry Hobbs
Always looking for good men to sing great music.
